Championship golf, breathtaking alpine scenery, and outstanding performances at the iconic home of the Omega European Masters.

SchoolsGolf made a hugely anticipated return to the spectacular Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club this week for another memorable afternoon of competition in the heart of the Swiss Alps. Widely regarded as one of Europe’s most iconic mountain golf venues and the long-standing host of the Omega European Masters, Crans once again delivered a world-class setting for school golf.

Perched high above the Rhône Valley with breathtaking panoramic views stretching across the Alps, Crans-sur-Sierre is a venue steeped in history and prestige. The Severiano Ballesteros course, famous for its dramatic elevation changes, immaculate presentation, and demanding closing stretch, provided a true championship test for a full field of players representing international schools from across Switzerland.

Considering the course had only reopened for the season two weeks earlier following the winter closure, the condition of the course was exceptional. The fairways were outstanding, the greens rolled beautifully, and the mountain setting created a unique atmosphere that few school sporting events can replicate. Players were required to combine power with precision, while the altitude and strategic layout rewarded thoughtful course management throughout the round.

Despite the size and strength of the field, the standard of organisation and pace of play across the afternoon was excellent. Competitors showed tremendous maturity, professionalism, and respect for both the course and fellow players, something that was noted positively by members and club officials alike.

Crans-sur-Sierre continues to be one of the most valued and established host venues on the SchoolsGolf calendar, and the warmth of welcome shown by the club, its staff, and members once again played a huge role in the success of the event. The atmosphere throughout the day reflected everything that makes SchoolsGolf special — competitive golf played in a supportive and respectful environment at one of the game’s truly great venues.

Scoring across both the Stableford and Scratch competitions was particularly impressive, with several outstanding individual performances highlighting the increasing depth of talent within school golf across Switzerland.
