Outstanding performances from players aged 8 to 17 highlighted the continued growth of SchoolsGolf across Europe at Montreux Golf Club.
SchoolsGolf brought the 2025/26 Swiss season to a fitting conclusion on 3rd June at the beautiful Montreux Golf Club, where 39 players aged between 8 and 17 from five international schools gathered for a fantastic day of competition in near-perfect golfing conditions.
Set above Lake Geneva with stunning views across the surrounding mountains, Montreux provided an outstanding venue for the final event of the season. Warm temperatures, calm conditions, and a well-presented golf course allowed players to showcase the remarkable progress being made within school golf across Switzerland and Europe.
The field reflected the growing strength and diversity of SchoolsGolf, with competitors ranging from experienced international-level players to children competing in their very first organised event. This unique mix of abilities continues to be one of the defining features of the SchoolsGolf programme, creating opportunities for young golfers of all standards to develop, compete, and enjoy the game in a supportive environment.
The standard of play throughout the day was exceptional. In the 18-hole Scratch Competition, Zach from International School of Valais produced the round of the day, carding a superb 76 to underline the quality of talent emerging from school golf programmes across the region.
Equally impressive was the performance of Raife from St George’s International School, who competed in his first-ever 9-hole SchoolsGolf event. At just eight years old, he demonstrated tremendous composure and enthusiasm, recording a highly creditable score of 65 and highlighting the exciting pathway now available for younger players entering the sport.
Beyond the scores, the event showcased everything that SchoolsGolf aims to achieve. Players displayed excellent sportsmanship, respect for fellow competitors, and a genuine passion for improvement. From beginners taking their first steps in competition to experienced golfers competing for top honours, the atmosphere throughout the day was both competitive and welcoming.
As the final event of the season, Montreux provided a perfect illustration of how SchoolsGolf is helping to develop players of all abilities across Europe. Participation continues to grow, standards continue to rise, and opportunities for young golfers have never been greater. The performances seen at Montreux offer further evidence that the future of school golf across the continent is extremely bright.
