Expanding Access to Competitive School Golf
SchoolsGolf is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in school golf by supporting young players from all backgrounds—particularly those with limited access to competitive opportunities. The SchoolsGolf Bursary Programme is designed to reward commitment to the game of golf, helping passionate young players take part in our national tour. We believe that talent and desire to play golf in schools does not match opportunity.
For the 2025/26 season, one bursary place will be made available for a boy and one for a girl at each SchoolsGolf event. These places will be fully funded by SchoolsGolf and allocated to eligible players from state schools.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for a SchoolsGolf Bursary place, players must:
- * Be enrolled in a state school in the UK
- * Be in full-time education
- * Be under 18 years old on 1st September 2025
- * Have a maximum WHS handicap index of 26
- * Attend an affiliated school (note: there is no cost for state schools to join the SchoolsGolf Tour)
Selection criteria
We are particularly looking for players who demonstrate dedication to the sport, regular participation in training or competitions, and a desire to develop through experience on the SchoolsGolf Tour.
We are also looking to support those who may otherwise have been overlooked in school sport, and for whom this opportunity will be potentially transformative in their personal growth.
We would like to share the stories of these players to inspire other young players to take up, and progress in, the game of golf.
Application Process
We accept applications from parents / guardians supported by nominations via a recognised body, including:
* State School
* Golf Club
* County Golf Board
* Approved SchoolsGolf Charity Partner
- Applications must be initiated via our Application Form
- Players may request up to three events over the course of the season.
Selection & Notification
- Bursary places will be awarded in relation to the SchoolsGolf selection criteria and selected players will be contacted by the SchoolsGolf Team with confirmation of their event allocation and support details.
Our Commitment
We believe that talent is everywhere—but opportunity is not. Through our EDI & Bursary Programme, we aim to level the playing field and open doors for dedicated young golfers to experience the SchoolsGolf Tour and compete at national level.
